Itinerary  

Day 1 Fri DEPART USA Depart USA via overnight transatlantic flight to Istanbul. Day 2 Sat ISTANBUL Upon your arrival at Istanbul’s airport, you will be met, assisted & transferred to your hotel. Remainder of the day is at your leisure. Day 3 Sun ISTANBUL A full day tour of the city visits the Byzantine & Ottoman treasures of Istanbul. Visit the 6th century Byzantine Basilica St. Sophia, the 17th century Blue Mosque, famous for its 6 minarets, and the Byzantine Hippodrome. After lunch you will visit the famous TopKapi Palace. B, L

Day 4 Mon ISTANBUL-IZMIR

Transfer to the airport for your flight to Izmir where you will be transferred to your hotel. Today you will visit the St. Polikarrpos church which is the oldest church in ancient Smyrna. Then visit the velvet castle of Alexander the Great. Dinner & overnight in Izmir. B, D

Day 5 Tue IZMIR (PERGAMOS/THYATIRA) Drive north along the Aegean coast to the ancient city of Pergamos to visit the impressive site of the ancient city. Highlights include the Sanctuary of Asklipios, the Trojan Temple, the ancient Theater & the Acropolis with the Altar of Zeus. After lunch drive to Thyatira to visit the remains of the Christian church & the temple. Return to Izmir for overnight. B, D Day 6 Wed IZMIR-SARDIS-PHILADELPHIA-PAMUKKALE Today depart for Sardis, one of the most picturesque sites of the seven churches. Visit the temple of Artemis, the Byzantine church, the Acropolis, the Synagogue & the Gymnasium. After lunch proceed to Philadelphia to visit the Byzantine Basilica & continue to Pamukkale for dinner & overnight. B, D

Day 7 Thu PAMUKKALE-LAODIKIA-KUSADASI

Wake for a morning departure for Laodikia for a brief visit. Then drive to Aphrodisias the ancient city named after goddess Aphrodite. See the well preserved stadium, the Temple of Aphroidite, the Odeon, the agora & more. Continue to Kusadasi for dinner & overnight. B, D

Day 8 Fri KUSADASI (EPHESUS)

Today you will drive to Ephesus to visit the ruins of the ancient city where St. Paul stayed & preached for 2 years. Visit the house of Virgin Mary where she lived her last years & the Basilica of St. John. Transfer to Kusadasi for dinner & overnight. B, D Day 9 Sat KUSADASI-ISTANBUL Morning is at your leisure in Kusadasi. Later today you will be transferred to Izmir airport for your flight to Istanbul. You will be met & transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at your leisure. B

Day 10 Fri ISTANBUL-USA

After breakfast at your hotel you will be transferred to the airport for your flight home. B
