Depart
USA to Lima. You will be met upon your arrival, assisted & transferred
to your hotel. Take some time to Settle in & relax. The remainder
of the day is free for your own activities. |

2 Sat LIMA |
|
Take
a tour of the city today, which visits landmarks such as the magnificent
17th century San Francisco monastery & its unique cloisters, Plaza
de Armas to see the Government Palace, the court of the Inquisition
& the Cathedral. Continue through the boulevard of the republic
to the exclusive areas of Miraflores & San Isidro Return to your
hotel. (B) |

Day
3 Sun LIMA-CUZCO
You
will be transferred to the airport this morning for your short flight
to Cuzco., and be met upon arrival & transferred to your hotel.
Take some free time to adjust to the high altitude 11,000 feet.
Francisco Pizarro founded Cuzco in 1534 over Inca foundations, former
capital of the four regions that formed the Inca Empire. It is a
city with unique characteristics and impressive contrasts. Afternoon
tour includes highlights of the Colonial city; the Cathedral, Santo
Domingo church, the Plaza the Armas & visits to the Inca ruins of
Tambomachay, Kenko, Puca-Pucara & Sacsayhuaman’s gigantic zigzag-walled
fortress. (B)

4 Mon CUZCO-MACHU PICCHU |
|
Early
morning you will board the train for a three-hour journey through
Urubamba Canyon to the famous ruins of Machu Picchu, “the lost city
of the Incas”. Machu Pichu was only discovered in 1911 and consists
of over 200 buildings. A guided tour will take you through Temples,
Houses & sacred Altars of this advanced hidden world. Buffet lunch
is included. Return to Cuzco. (B, L) |

5 Tue CUZCO-PISAC-OLLANTAYTAMBO |

Today
a full day excursion includes visit to the famous Indian Pisac Market
& the magnificent fortress of Ollantaytambo the oldest continuously
occupied settlement in the Americas. It is believed construction
was cut short by the arrival of the Spaniards. Lunch is included.
Return to Cuzco for overnight. (B, L) |

6 Wed CUZCO-LIMA-CHICLAYO |
You
will be transferred to the airport this morning for your flight
to Lima. Then connect with your flight
to
Chiclayo, a thriving, commercial center and a dynamic, lively, well
functioning city. Chiclayo is home to one of the country’s most
recent archaeological findings, Sipan. You will be met & transferred
to your hotel. In the afternoon a tour of the city includes visit
to the witch doctor’s market with its typical herbal medicines,
archaeological curios & ritual paraphernalia used by shammans during
their healing & exorcism ceremonies. Return to your hotel. (B) |

7 Thu CHICLAYO (LORD OF SIPAN)-TRUJILLO |

Today
you will visit the impressive necropolis of Huaca Rajada, where
several tombs have been recently discovered. The best known belonged
to the now-named “Lord of Sipan” (5th century) and the “old lord
of Sipan (3rd century), unearthed in 1988 & 1989 respectively. After
lunch (not included) drive to the beautiful city of Trujillo & transferred
to your hotel. Trujillo, once the center of the Mochica & Chimu
cultures it is surrounded with sugar plantations & beautiful colonial
mansions. Remainder of the day is at leisure. (B) |

8 Fri TRUJILLO (KINGDOM OF CHAN-CHAN)
Morning
tour of the city visits landmarks including the newly renovated
Cathedral with its marble pillars & hand-carved wooden altars, the
Casinelli museum, which houses a fine collection of Mochica & Chimu
ceramics & more. In the afternoon you will visit the famous adobe
citadel of Chan-Chan, capital of the Chimu kingdom. Chan-Chan was
the largest city in the pre-Columbian South America in fact the
largest adobe-city with 10,000 buildings. The imposing ruins of
the citadel covers an area of 8 square miles. There are relics of
innumerable canals & aqueducts in which once were large gardens
& green parks as well as extensive harbor facilities. From there
you will visit the beach village of Huanchaco, known for its totoras
(small red boats) used for fishing. Return to your hotel. (B)

9 Sat TRUJILLO-LIMA
The
morning is at leisure in Trujillo to explore the city on your own.
In the afternoon you will be transferred to the airport for your
flight to Lima where you will be met & transferred to your hotel
for overnight. (B) |
