Depart
USA to Lima. You will be met upon your arrival, assisted & transferred
to your hotel. Settle in & relax. The remainder of the day is free
for your own activities. |

2 Thu LIMA |
|
Lima
is the industrial, political and commercial center of the country.
Morning tour visits the 17th century San Francisco monastery & its
unique cloisters, Plaza de Armas & the Government Palace, Court
of the Inquisition & the Cathedral. Continue through the boulevard
of the republic & the exclusive areas of Miraflores & San Isidro
to enjoy a magnificent view of the Pacific Ocean. In the afternoon
you will visit one of Lima’s most famous museums, the gold & arms
museum, which houses a priceless collection of gold, silver & copper
artifacts of Peru’s numerous past civilizations as well as the private
armory of Miguel Mujica Gallo. (B) |
Day 3 Fri LIMA - AREQUIPA |

Today
you will fly to Arequipa. The city was founded in two occasions,
first by the Inca Huayana Capac, “Arequipa” (meaning stay here)
ordered his warriors & there they stayed. Later the Spanish Conquistador
Garci Manuel Carbajal founded the city of Arequipa in 1540. The
city displays unique colonial architecture and is surrounded by
87 volcanoes and hundreds of snow –peaked mountains, which decorate
the scenery. Settle in your hotel, and take an afternoon tour visits
the 16th century Santa Catalina Convent, Plaza de Armas, La Compania

loisters & the suburbs of Cayma & Yanahuara with a magnificent
view of El Misti volcano (B)

4 Sat AREQUIPA-COLCA VALLEY-CHIVAY |

Depart
for a scenic & rewarding drive passing El Misti volcano & a vicuma
reserve to the city of Chivay in the Colca Valley, once the second
most important valley of the Inca Empire. It is covered by terraced
land fed by an ancient watering system still in use today. Overnight
is in a lodge in the area and includes dinner. (B, L, D) |

5 Sun CHIVAY-COLCA CANYON-AREQUIPA |

Drive
to the beginning of Colca Canyon, the deepest canyon in the world.
It is twice the size of Grand Canyon, a truly amazing site. Proceed
to the Condor’s cross “observation point” from which Condors can
be spotted nesting in the canyon’s walls. After lunch you will return
to Arequipa. (B, L) |

6 Mon AREQUIPA-PUNO-LAKE TITICACA |

You
will fly to Juliaca where you will be transferred to your hotel
in Puno on the shores of Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake
on earth. Legend holds it is the birthplace of Manco Capac founder
of the Inca Empire. In the afternoon a boat trip in the lake visits
the floating islands of Uros Indians. (B)

7 Tue PUNO-CUZCO (ANDEAN TRAIN) |

In
the morning transfer to the bus station to board the bus for your
12 hour journey on the top of the Andes through spectacular scenery
to Cuzco. You will be met & assisted upon arrival & also be transferred

8 Wed CUZCO
Francisco
Pizarro founded Cuzco in 1534 over Inca foundations. Former capital
of the four regions that formed the Inca Empire is a city with unique
characteristics and impressive contrasts. Morning tour includes
highlights of the Colonial city; the Cathedral, Santo Domingo church,
the Plaza the Armas & visits to the Inca ruins of Tambomachay, Kenko,
Puca-Pucara & Sacsayhuaman’s gigantic zigzag-walled fortress. The
afternoon is free for your own activities. (B)

9 Thu CUZCO- (PISAC-OLLANTAYTAMBO)
A
full day excursion takes you to the famous Indian Market in the
village of Pisac. After lunch drive through Urubamba valley (sacred
valley of the Incas) to visit the fortress of Ollantaytambo, the
oldest continuously occupied settlement in the Americas. It is believed
construction was cut short by the arrival of the Spaniards. Lunch

10 Fri CUZCO (MACHU PICCHU) |

Early
morning you will board the train for a three-hour journey through
Urubamba Canyon to the famous ruins of Machu Picchu “the lost city
of the Incas”. Machu Pichu was only discovered in 1911 and consists
of over 200 buildings. A guided tour will take you through Temples,
Houses & sacred Altars of this advanced hidden world. Buffet lunch
is included. Return to Cuzco. (B, L) |
Day
11 Sat CUZCO-LIMA-ICA (NAZCA LINES)-PARACAS |
You
will fly to Lima where you will be met & transferred to the bus
station for your trip to Ica. From Ica you will take a short commuter-like
flight to Nazca; change planes and over-fly the mysterious Nazca
markings, one of Peru’s archaeological treasures. Return to Ica
& continue to Paracas for overnight. (B)

12 Sun PARACAS (BALLESTAS ISLANDS)-LIMA |

This
morning you will take a yacht cruise to the Ballestas islands known
as the “Peruvian Galapagos”, inhabited by boobies, pelicans, sea
lions & penguins. In the afternoon you will return to Lima, where
you will be met & transferred to your hotel. (B) |

After
