Itinerary
Choice A:
Day 1 Thu USA-LIMA
Depart USA to Lima. You will be met upon your arrival, assisted & transferred to your hotel. Settle in & relax. The remainder of the day is free for your own activities.
Day 2 Fri LIMA
The capital city of Peru, founded by Francisco Pizarro in 1535, played an important role throughout its colonial history as Spain’s South American capital. A morning tour visits the 17th century San Francisco monastery & its unique cloisters, Plaza de Armas & the Government Palace, Court of the Inquisition & the Cathedral. Continue through the boulevard of the republic & the exclusive areas of Miraflores & San Isidro to enjoy a magnificent view of the Pacific Ocean. The afternoon is free for your own activities (B)


Day 3 Sat LIMA-CUZCO
Today you will fly to Cuzco, the former capital of the four regions that formed the Inca Empire. It is a city with unique characteristics and impressive contrasts. Settle in your hotel & take some free time to adjust to the high altitude (11,000 feet). Afternoon tour includes highlights of the Colonial city; the Cathedral, Santo Domingo church, the Plaza the Armas & visits to the Inca ruins of Tambomachay, Kenko, Puca-Pucara & Sacsayhuaman’s gigantic zigzag-walled fortress. (B)



Day 4 Mon CUZCO (MACHU PICCHU)

Early in the morning you will board the train for a three-hour journey through Urubamba Canyon to the famous ruins of Machu Picchu “the lost city of the Incas”. Machu Pichu was only discovered in 1911 and consists of over 200 buildings. A guided tour will take you through Temples, Houses & sacred Altars of this advanced hidden world. Buffet lunch is included. Return to Cuzco. (B, L)






Day 5 Sun CUZCO (PISAC-OLLANTAYTAMBO)

A full day excursion includes visit to the famous Indian Pisac Market & the magnificent fortress of Ollantaytambo the oldest continuously occupied settlement in the Americas. It is believed construction was cut short by the arrival of the Spaniards. Lunch is included. Return to Cuzco for overnight. (B, L)

Day 6 Tue CUZCO-LIMA-IQUITOS


You will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Iquitos via Lima. Upon your arrival in Iquitos airport you will transferred to the Lodge. In the afternoon walk in to jungle & explore the river surroundings. After dinner take a night canoe excursion. (Lunch & dinner included). (L, D)

Day 7 Wed AMAZON BASIN
Take a morning hike along the “Bushmaster Trail.” Scientific studies has found the highest biodiversity of trees per square hectare in the world along this trail. In the afternoon you will take a canoe ride along the Amazon in search of either of the two species of freshwater dolphin found in the river. (B, L, D)
Day 8  Thu  IQUITOS - LIMA 
After breakfast your take advantage of your last chance for exploration of the rainforest before boarding a canoe for your motorboat transfer back to Iquitos & transfer to the airport for your flight to Lima where you will be transferred to your hotel. In the afternoon you will visit one of Lima’s most famous museums, the gold & arms museum, which houses a priceless collection of gold, silver & copper artifacts of Peru’s numerous past civilizations as well as the private armory of Miguel Mujica Gallo. (B)

Day 9 Fri LIMA-USA
After breakfast at your hotel you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to USA. (B)

Itinerary same as CHOICE A.

Day 6 Tue CUSCO-LIMA-PUERTO MALDONADO

You will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Puerto Maldonado via Lima. Upon your arrival you will be met & transferred to the Tambopata river port in Puerto Maldonado. From there you will depart by motorized canoe for a 30 minutes journey on the river to Posada Amazonas a comfortable 30 rooms lodge owned jointly by Rainforest Expeditions & the local community of Infierno. You will receive a short orientation & a complete briefing on the lodge & the ecotourism project. In the afternoon you will visit the canopy tower. In the evening a video about the Tambopata forest will be presented. L, D


Day 7 Wed POSADA AMAZONAS
Activities today include visit to the Tres Chimbadas oxbow lake, where you will take a 15 minute boat ride & a 30 minute walk to the shores of the lake to observe wild life. You will return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon you will visit the local community’s ethnological center. You will hike the trails around the center with one of the residents who will explain the uses of forest resources in medicine, construction, food & fiber. You will return to the Lodge. B, L, D

Day 8 Thu PUERTO MALDONADO-LIMA
After an early breakfast you will be transferred to Puerto Maldonado’s airport for your flight to Lima. In the afternoon you will visit one of Lima’s most famous museums, the gold & arms museum, which houses a priceless collection of gold, silver & copper artifacts of Peru’s numerous past civilizations as well as the private armory of Miguel Mujica Gallo. B
Day 9 Fri LIMA-USA
After breakfast at your hotel you will be transferred to the airport for your departing flight home. (B)
