Itinerary
Day 1 Fri DEPART USA

Depart New York via overnight transatlantic flight with meals on board.


Day 2 Sat CAIRO

You will be met, assisted & transferred to your hotel. The balance of the day is at leisure.

Day 3 Sun CAIRO (MUSEUM-CITADEL-MOSQUES)


Start your day with a visit to the impressive Cairo Museum of Antiquities. Considered as one of the most prominent in the world, it houses treasures from the 1st to the 31st dynasties of Egypt’s Pharaohs including the burial treasure of king Tutankhamun. In the afternoon visit the 12th century Citadel of Salah El Din overlooking Cairo from the Mogattam hills. Continue with visits to the Sultan Hasan Mosque & the fascinating Khan El Khalili bazaar. Return to your hotel. B
 
Day 4 Mon CAIRO (PYRAMIDS-SPHINX-MEMPHIS-SAKKARA)

A short drive to Giza this morning to visit the great Pyramid of Cheops & the enigmatic sphinx. The towering pyramid stands majestically in a desert plateau with two slightly smaller pyramids (one built by Cheop’s son Kephren & the other by Mycerinus), erected to preserve their bodies & treasures for the afterlife. Continue to Memphis the capital of ancient Egypt to see the statue of Ramses II & the alabaster Sphinx of the 18th dynasty. Then to Sakkara to see the step pyramid the oldest one in Egypt & the famous Mastaba tombs. B
Day 5 Tue CAIRO-LUXOR (CRUISE) KARNAK & LUXOR TEMPLES
Morning, transfer to the airport for your flight to Luxor, to board your Nile cruise ship. Afternoon sightseeing includes the Temples of Karnak & Luxor. Colossal statues, hypostyle halls & majestic obelisks built over the centuries & dedicated to the god Amon-Ra, his consort Mut & their son Khonsu. Dinner on board the ship followed with a belly dancing show. B, L, D
Day 6 Wed LUXOR (VALLEY OF THE KINGS & QUEENS)-EDFU
You will cross the Nile to Thebes Luxor’s powerful West Bank to visit the Valley of the Kings, where some 64 of Egypt’s Pharaohs are buried. The valley of the Queens, the Great temple of Queen Hatshepsut at El Deir El Bahari, an architectural tour de force built against the cheer Theban cliff range, the funerary Temple of Ramses III & the Colossi of Memnon at Medinet Habu. Sail to Edfu in the afternoon. In the evening enjoy the captain’s cocktail party. B, L, D
Day 7 Thu EDFU-KOM OMBO
In Edfu you will visit the superbly preserved Ptolemaic Temple of the falcon god & master of the sky Horus (built at 237 BC). In the afternoon you sail to Kom Ombo. Visit the Temple with its beautiful murals and exceptional view of the Nile shared by two gods, Sobec the crocodile god & Haroeis the sun god. Dinner on board the ship followed with a Calabeya party. Day 8 Fri KOM OMBO-ASWAN
Sail to the Nubian town of Aswan in Upper Egypt.
Sightseeing begins with a visit to the high Dam,
built to control the flooding of the Nile. Then sail

by boat to the Temple of Isis, rising off the
waters of Lake Naser in the island of Philae.
Continue on to the ancient Granite Quarries & the
 enormous 170 foot-long unfinished obelisk.
In the afternoon you will sail by felucca
(local sailboat) around Elephantine Island to view
the Agha Khan Mausoleum & Kichener’s island.
Dinner on board is followed by a Nubian folkloric
show. B, L, D
Day 9 Sat ASWAN-CAIRO
Disembark after breakfast & transferred to the airport for your flight to Cairo (optional tour to Abu Simbel is available before your flight to Cairo). Upon arrival you will be met & transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure. B
Day 10 Sun CAIRO-USA
Morning transfer to the airport for your flight home. B
