Itinerary

Day 1 USA-SAN JOSE

Depart USA. Upon your arrival you will be met assisted & transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at your leisure.


Day 2 SAN JOSE-PACUARE RIVER

You will depart San Jose early in the morning driving through the old capital city of Cartago and the lush green farmlands to the banks of Pacuare River with a stop for breakfast on the way. (Pacuare River is one of the top five rivers in the world for its scenery & rapids). At the banks of the river expert guides will provide you with the rafting gear and explain to you safety precautions before the rafting adventure begins (class III rapids). The river passes through scenic canyons where waterfalls plummet down into the rapidly coursing river below. This enjoy this exciting journey for an hour and a half before you arrive at your lodge. The afternoon is at your leisure; you may want to try an optional canopy adventure, a guided hike to the waterfalls or just relax & enjoy the nature and the facilities of the lodge. Lunch & dinner are included. B, L, D



Day 3 PACUARE RIVER RAFTING-SAN JOSE
After breakfast you will prepare for the second expedition. Rafting becomes more thrilling as you begin to use the skills & experience you gained the day before. You may stop to explore side streams that lead to striking waterfalls and pools with a natural waterslide. The day ends having conquered one of the wildest and most scenic rivers in the world. After lunch you can change into dry clothes and return to San Jose. B, L
Day 4 SAN JOSE-ARENAL (VOLCANO & TABACON THERMAL BATHS)
This morning depart by shuttle bus to Arenal, via scenic San Ramon & the plains of San Carlos, a landscape of exceptional beauty, where you can see the volcano through the clouds. Proceed to your Lodge in the area. In the afternoon you will visit the Tabacon Thermal Baths Resort where you can enjoy the luscious gardens & pools of therapeutic water heated to a perfect temperature by the Arenal Volcano. Arenal is Costa Rica’s most active volcano & erupts frequently, providing an unforgettable spectacle of sound & light, lava & ash. B, D
Day 5 ARENAL (CANO NEGRO WILDLIFE REFUGE)
You will visit the Cano Negro wildlife Refuge. The variety of wild life in the area includes monkeys, sloths, ocelots, fresh water sharks & hundreds of species of birds. Continue to Cano Negro Lagoon for a boat ride through the Lake Region (box lunch included). B, L




Day 6 ARENAL-MANUEL ANTONIO

You will be transferred by bus to Manuel Antonio National Park & proceed to your hotel. This unique park features a tall evergreen forest that grows to a high-tide mark & holds a variety of wildlife, including the squirrel & the monkey, currently in danger of extinction. It also features white sandy beaches & islands that dot the coastline. The islands are home to numerous waterfowl & dolphins. Whales are sometimes sighted in the clear crystal waters. The remainder of the day is at leisure. B,

Day 7 MANUEL ANTONIO
The day is at your leisure to enjoy the hotel facilities & the beach. You may choose to stroll around or take a swim on one of the most beautiful beaches in Costa Rica, or perhaps visit (optional tour) the Manuel Antonio National Park. B


Day 8 MANUEL ANTONIO-SAN JOSE
Today you will be transferred to Quepos airstrip for your short flight to San Jose where you will be transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure. B
Day 9 SAN JOSE-USA
After breakfast at your hotel you will be transferred to the airport for your departing flight home. B
