Itinerary

Day 1 USA-SAN JOSE

Depart USA to San Jose. Upon your arrival you will be met assisted & transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at your leisure.

Day 2 SAN JOSE-TORTUGUERO
Drive through the Braulio Carrillo National Park & the Atlantic coast lowlands to the canal area to board a boat for your trip through the waterways of the Tortuguero Canals. For the next two hours you will see some of the most diversified wildlife in the world. After arriving at the lodge you may relax & enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure. Dinner is at the hotel. B, L, D

Day 3 TORTUGUERO
This morning tour Tortuguero’s canals in smaller boats that will give you a closer look at the flora & fauna in the canals hard to reach areas. Relax the rest of the day & enjoy the comforting sounds of the nature, fishing, canoeing & exploring on your own. Between May through October an optional night tour is available to see giant turtles coming ashore to lay their eggs. Dinner & overnight B, L, D

Day 4 TORTUGUERO-SAN JOSE-ARENAL
In the morning, you fly to San Jose where you will be met & begin your trip by car to Arenal via scenic San Ramon & the plains of San Carlos. It is a landscape of exceptional beauty, where you can see the volcano through the clouds . Proceed to your Lodge. The rest of the day is at leisure. B

Day 5 ARENAL (VOLCANO-TABACON THERMAL BATHS)

The morning is at leisure. In the afternoon you will visit the Tabacon Thermal Baths Resort where you can enjoy the luscious gardens & pools of therapeutic water heated to a perfect temperature by the Arenal Volcano. The Arenal is Costa Rica’s most active volcano & erupts every moment, providing an unforgettable spectacle of sound & light, lava & ash. B, D

Day 6 ARENAL-MONTEVERDE
Today you will be transferred by car to

Monteverde cloud forest area. This cloud forest reserve, which covers an area of 10,500 hectares, is a private reserve set up by the Quakers who settled in the area. It is home to over 400 species of birds 100 species of mammals and many reptiles. The most famous bird in the area is the legendary Quetzal. Here you may enjoy many well prepared trails where you can take short walks as well as longer hikes. Transfer to your lodge in the area. Balance of the day is at your leisure. B

Day 7 MONTEVERDE
In the morning you will take a guided walking tour through the Monteverde cloud forest private reserve. The remainder of the day is at your leisure.Spend the day exploring, or visit the village of Monteverde. B

Day 8 MONTEVERDE-SAN JOSE

After breakfast at the hotel you will return to San Jose where you will be transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at your leisure. B

Day 9 SAN JOSE-USA

After breakfast at your hotel you will be transferred to the airport for your departing flight home. B
