Day 5 SANTIAGO-ARICA (CITY TOUR) You will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Arica in Northern Chile. You will be met & transferred to your hotel. Your afternoon city tour visits the beaches of La Lisera & El Laucho, the San Miguel, the Azapa Archeological museum, which displays well preserved pre Colombian findings and the 10,000 year old mummies of the Chinchorro culture. Continue to El Moro Hill & to the central district. Return to your hotel. B |

6 ARICA (LAUCA NAT’L PARK) |

After
breakfast at your hotel, depart for a full day tour to the Chilean
high plateau and Lluta valley. Then continue with stops on the way
to Pucara Copaquilla, an ancient stronghold, and to Lauca National
park & lake Chungara, the world’s highest lake at 4,600 meters.
It is a habitat for hundreds migratory birds & species of the Region.
On the way back you will stop to the old Spanish village of Parinacota.

7 ARICA-IQUIQUE (CITY TOUR) Transfer to the airport this morning to board your flight to Iquique where you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Today
depart for a full day tour to the Pampa of northern Chile. You will
visit the ghost towns of Humberstone & Santa laura on your way to
Pintados Petroglyphs. This amazing pre Colombian artistic expression
includes more than 400 representations of men, animals & birds.
The tour continues to the oasis of Matilta, the warm water springs
of Cocha Resbaladero & the sanctuary of La Tirana. Return to Iquique.

8 IQUIGUE (PINTADOS GEOGLYPHS-UNITA GIANT)
Today you will depart from your hotel for a full day tour to the area of the Geoglyphs in Atacama Desert. First you will stop at the former mining camp of Humber-stone, a ghost town, and continue passing through Tamarugal forest to the region of Pintados Geoglyphs, one of the largest groups of Geoglyphs that covers a huge area & contains more than 400 figures. It is a combination of dark & light rocks that when viewed from distance become arrows, fertility symbols animals & people. Some wear headdresses that resemble space helmets. Continue to Unita hill to observe the mysterious Giant of Atacama, a 400 foot long representation of a human figure. (Box lunch included). Return to Iquique. (B, L) ![]() |

9 IQUIQUE-CALAMA-SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA (ARCHAEOLOGICAL TOUR)

Transfer
to the airport this morning for your flight to Calama (via Antofagasta)
where you will be met & transferred to your hotel in San Pedro de
Atacama, the main center of the Atacama culture. In the afternoon,
a half day excursion visits the La Paige Museum that exhibits mummies
& stone-age tools found in the desert during excavations. The mummies
are quite a sight. Proceed to the Plaza to see the church of San
Pedro then to the Indian fortress of Pucara Quitor & the village

10 SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA (TOCONAO-MOON VALLEY)

Today,
a morning tour visits the village of Toconao to see its church,
bell, and its workshops where objects are fashioned out of volcanic
stone. Then proceed to the Atacama salt flats and the Chaxa Lagoon.
In the afternoon you will visit the Moon Valley, one of the most
attractive sites in northern Chile, and the area around the great
salt-bed where a large part of the world’s reserve of Lithium can

full day tour today visits the Tatio Geysers, an amazing geothermal
field set amid volcanoes. A guided exploration allows you to observe

the unparallel landscape of the Andes with views of the Torcopuri
