Day 1 USA-SANTIAGO
Depart USA via overnight flight to Santiago with meals on board.

 Day 2 SANTIAGO
 
Early morning arrival in Santiago, where you will be met, assisted & transferred to your hotel. Santiago, with the snow-capped Andes as its backdrop, was founded in 1541 by Pedro de Valdivia as the first white settlement in the area. Today is a cosmopolitan city with excellent shopping, a wide range of restaurants and good nightlife. The remainder of the day is at leisure.

 Day 3 SANTIAGO (CITY TOUR)
 
Morning tour takes you through the bustling streets of the city. Highlights include La Moneda Palace, the pre Colombian Art museum which features textiles fro the Indian cultures, Plaza the Armas, the Cathedral, the fine Arts museum, Santa Lucia Hill, site of the city’s foundation, & more. Return to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure. Perhaps walk at the Plaza the Armas, visit Los Graneros del Alma shopping village, or Belavista a center for art galleries jewelry shops and charming cafes or take optional tours. B
















 Day 4 SANTIAGO (VINA DEL MAR-VALPARAISO)
 
You depart from your hotel this morning for a full day tour to Vina del Mar & Valparaiso. After crossing the picturesque Chilean countryside you arrive in historic Valparaiso, Chile’s main seaport, founded in 1536. You will admire the enchanting colonial architecture in the old district. You will visit both the old and modern districts to see Victory Square, dock and wharf area, the Naval Academy, Santa Maria University & more. Continue to Vina del Mar main seaside resort of Chile known as the Garden City along a coast of impressive beauty. Visit includes Plaza Vergara, Sausalito Park, San Martin Avenue & more, Return to Santiago in the evening. B

 
Day 5 SANTIAGO-CALAMA-SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA
 
 
Transfer to the airport this morning for your flight to Calama (via Antofagasta) where you will be met & transferred to your hotel in San Pedro de Atacama, the main center of the Atacama culture. In the afternoon a half day excursion visits the La Paige Museum that exhibits mummies & stone-age tools found in the desert during excavations. The mummies are quite a sight. Proceed to the Plaza to see the church of San Pedro then to the Indian fortress of Pucara Quitor & the village of Tulor. B, L, D















Day 6 SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA (TOCONAO-MOON VALLEY)
 
Today a morning tour visits the village of Toconao to see its church, bell & its workshops, where objects are fashioned out of volcanic stone. Then proceed to the Atacama salt flats and the Chaxa Lagoon. In the afternoon you will visit the Moon Valley, one of the most attractive sites in northern Chile, and the area around the great salt-bed where a large part of the world’s reserve of Lithium can be found. Return to your hotel. B, L, D

Day 7 SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA (EL TATIO GEYSERS)
 
A full day tour today visits the Tatio Geysers, an amazing geothermal field set amid volcanoes. A guided exploration allows you to observe small geysers & scalding mud craters which show different colors due to the presence of minerals into the water. Return driving through the unparallel landscape of the Andes with views of the Torcopuri & Sairecabur volcanoes. B, L, D

 Day 8 SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA-CALAMA-SANTIAGO-USA
 
Today you will be transfered to the airport for your flight to Santiago, to connect to your overnight eturn flight to the US. B.

 You will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Arica in Northern Chile. You will be met & transferred to your hotel. Your afternoon city tour visits the beaches of La Lisera & El Laucho, the San Miguel, the Azapa Archeological museum, which displays well preserved pre Colombian findings and the 10,000 year old mummies of the Chinchorro culture. Continue to El Moro Hill & to the central district. Return to your hotel. B
 Day 6 ARICA (LAUCA NAT’L PARK)
 After breakfast at your hotel, depart for a full day tour to the Chilean high plateau and Lluta valley. Then continue with stops on the way to Pucara Copaquilla, an ancient stronghold, and to Lauca National park & lake Chungara, the world’s highest lake at 4,600 meters. It is a habitat for hundreds migratory birds & species of the Region. On the way back you will stop to the old Spanish village of Parinacota. Return to Arica B, L
 
 Day 7 ARICA-IQUIQUE (CITY TOUR)

Transfer to the airport this morning to board your flight to Iquique where you will be met and transferred to your hotel. After you settle in, a tour of the city visits; Cavancha Peninsula, the picturesque Baquedano Avenue, Astoreca Palace, Prat Square, Club Espanol de Iquique, Municipal Theater, Naval & Regional Museum & more.  Day 8 IQUIGUE (PINTADOS GEOGLYPS-UNITA GIANT)
 Today depart for a full day tour to the Pampa of northern Chile. You will visit the ghost towns of Humberstone & Santa laura on your way to Pintados Petroglyphs. This amazing pre Colombian artistic expression includes more than 400 representations of men, animals & birds. The tour continues to the oasis of Matilta, the warm water springs of Cocha Resbaladero & the sanctuary of La Tirana. Return to Iquique. B, L

Day 8 IQUIGUE (PINTADOS GEOGLYPHS-UNITA GIANT)

Today you will depart from your hotel for a full day tour to the area of the Geoglyphs in Atacama Desert. First you will stop at the former mining camp of Humber-stone, a ghost town, and continue passing through Tamarugal forest to the region of Pintados Geoglyphs, one of the largest groups of Geoglyphs that covers a huge area & contains more than 400 figures. It is a combination of dark & light rocks that when viewed from distance become arrows, fertility symbols animals & people. Some wear headdresses that resemble space helmets. Continue to Unita hill to observe the mysterious Giant of Atacama, a 400 foot long representation of a human figure. (Box lunch included). Return to Iquique. (B, L)
Day 9 IQUIQUE-CALAMA-SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA (ARCHAEOLOGICAL TOUR)
