Itinerary

Day 1 USA-RIO DE JANEIRO

Depart USA via overnight flight to Rio de Janeiro with meals on board.

Day 2 RIO DE JANEIRO

Meeting and assistance upon arrival and transferred to your hotel. Woven between 20 miles of white sand beaches & trimmed by green rolling peaks, Rio is a sophisticated center of culture, music and dance and a legendary nightlife. Its breathtaking beauty has made it one of the world’s most attractive cities. Remainder of the day is at your leisure.

Day 3 RIO DE JANEIRO (CORCOVADO)
A drive through the city takes you to the Cosme Velho train station. The cog-wheeled train will climb up through the Tijuca Rain Forest to Corcovado Mountain about 2200 feet above sea level and to the steps of the 125-foot statue of Christ the Redeemer, Rio’s signature landmark. You will enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of Rio de Janeiro, the Guanabara Bay, Rio & Niteroy 9-mile Bridge, Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon and the Atlantic Ocean. The afternoon is free. (B)
Day 4 RIO DE JANEIRO (SUGAR LOAF)
You will drive along Rio’s famous beaches passing through traditional and historical sites to the Praia Vermelha cable car station. The cable car first will take you to the Urca Mountain (mid-way station) with its gardens and look out points. The second part of the ride will take you to the peak of the Sugar Loaf Mountain the guardian of Guanabara Bay, 1300 ft. above sea level. The remainder of the day is at leisure. (B)
Day 5 RIO DE JANEIRO-IGUASSU FALLS
Today you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Iguassu Falls. You will be met & transferred to your hotel. In the afternoon, take a walking tour of the Brazilian side of Iguassu Falls and admire the beauty and abundance of one of the world’s great natural wonders. (B)
Day 6 IGUASSU FALLS
Located near the Junction of Brazil, Argentina & Paraguay, in the Iguassu National Park, one of the largest reserves of subtropical jungle, the cataracts are formed by 275 different cascades spanning two and half miles across. Enjoy a full day to explore the area, relax & enjoy the surroundings or take additional tours to the falls. B
 


Day 7 IGUASSU FALLS-SALVADOR DA BAHIA
Transfer to the airport for your flight to Salvador. Founded in 1549, it was the first point discovered by the Portuguese & the first capital of the country. The cultivation of sugar cane and cocoa made it one of the wealthiest areas. Slaves from Africa were the workforces and their influence can be seen in the visual arts and the music. Balance of the day is at leisure. (B)


Day 8 SALVADOR DA BAHIA

This striking city lies on beautiful Santos Bay & is divided into an upper and lower section. The enormous Lacerda elevator, which goes from one level to the other, affords outstanding views of multicolored homes, red-tiled roofs, twisting narrow cobblestone streets and the Santos Bay. Morning tour visits; Porto de Bara (point of the city’s foundation), Ladeira de
 Bara, N.S de Vitoria church, Costa Pinto Museum, Dois de Julho Square, Castro Alves Theater, San Pedro Church, Castro Alves Square (heart of Bahia’s carnival). Proceed to Terreiro de Jesus Square with the Church of San Francisco; Largo do Pelourinho, Carmo Museum and more. The afternoon is at leisure. (B)

Day 9 SALVADOR DA BAHIA
This morning you will board a schooner for a cruise to “Todos os Santos” All Saints Bay. You will experience an unforgettable view of Salvador, the old part of the city, docks and Bonfim church as you sail the bay. Proceed to “Frades” Monk Island where a stop will be made & continue to Itaparica Island for lunch & to visit the Sao Lourenco Fortress & Fonte de Bica (mineral water fountain). (B, L)


Day 10 SALVADOR-USA
Transfer to the airport for your flight home (via Sao Paulo or Rio de Janeiro). (B)
